Welcome to IWA-WSC2022, Narvik
The IWA Water Safety Planning Specialist Group (SG) is excited to invite you to Narvik, Norway, for the “International Conference for Water Safety”, which follows the successful conference of 2016, Palawan, Philippines.
The 2022 IWA International conference for water safety (IWA – WS conference) will bring together leading international experts from academia, industry, government, policymakers/authorities and other organizations to actively exchange, share, and challenge state-of-the-art research on water safety (WS) that could contribute practical knowledge in the implementation of WS to the key stakeholders involved in providing safe drinking water.
Since the constitution of the IWA Water Safety Planning Specialist Group (SG), one of our main goals has been to ensure the continuation of this very good series of Water Safety Conferences, and we are therefore proud to be involved in the promotion and organization of this event.
Globally, significant effort is required to instil water safety planning principles and practices into daily operations, maintenance, and management activities, and this highlights that there is still much work for the IWA WSP SG to do.
We would like to acknowledge UiT in Narvik and Chalmers University of Technology for accepting this challenge.

Many thanks to the IWA HQ and WHO for bringing their knowledge and experience to this conference.
We welcome you all to attend and actively participate in this conference, and look forward to lively discussions, and catching up with old friends.
Water Safety Plans (WSPs) are widely recognized as the international best practice for guiding reliable and effective management of drinking water supplies to safeguard public health. Continuing to share knowledge, experiences and lessons learned by all involved in water safety related activities is particularly important in these uncertain times, and the conference will place special emphasis on recent advancements in water safety planning.
